Festival's out of competition special screening selection includes 10 films
The 12th Bosphorus Film Festival, organized by the Bosphorus Culture & Arts Foundation with Anadolu as its global communication partner, will kick off on Oct. 18.
The first film of the program, which is full of new films that have been screened at prestigious festivals and won awards, will be Small Things Like These by Tim Mielants, which was nominated for the Golden Bear at this year's Berlin Film Festival and won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role award for its actress Emily Watson.
Special screenings out of competition
The festival's out of competition special screening selection consists mainly of films that give voice to marginalized geographies such as Palestine.
The selection has 10 films, including the latest by French new wave film director Andre Techine.
Other films in the selection include Egyptian-Austrian writer and director Abu Bakr Shawky's first feature-length film Judgement Day and director Lina Soualem's Bye Bye Tiberias, which won awards at many festivals, including the Best Documentary Award at the London Film Festival, and The Evidence, a documentary on Israeli war crimes in Gaza by Atakan Kerkuklu.
The options also include Only Love is Immortal, which is about the personal life and film career of Turkish screenwriter and film director Tunc Basaran, and My New Friends by master director Andre Techine.
