The jury of National Feature Competition of the 8th edition of Bosphorus Film Festival – inviting the cinephiles to movie theatres this year as well - will be presided by the writer, scriptwriter and producer Tarik Tufan.

The jury of National Feature Competition of the 8th edition of Bosphorus Film Festival – inviting the cinephiles to movie theatres this year as well - will be presided by the writer, scriptwriter and producer Tarik Tufan.

Organized by Bosphorus Culture & Art Foundation with the contribution of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema, and support of Global Communication Partner, Anadolu Agency; the jury of National Feature Film Competition has been revealed of 8th Bosphorus Film Festival to run this year from 23-30 October. This year, Tarik Tufan, writer of the novels such as Kekeme Çocuklar Korosu, Bir Adam Girdi Şehre Koşarak, Şanzelize Düğün Salonu and the scriptwriter of screenplays Uzak İhtimal and Yozgat Blues will preside over the jury.

After studying sociology and philosophy, the scriptwriter and novel writer Tarik Tufan made culture & arts programs for radio and TV stations. With Uzak İhtimal in 2009, and Yozgat Blues in 2013, he won Best Screenwriting awards from numerous film festivals. In 2018, the film Anons – Tufan being one of the producers - had its world premiere at Venice Film Festival, where he won Jury Special Award and Best Mediterranean Award at the Orizzonti section. In 2000, Tufan’s first novel Kekeme Çocuklar Korosu was published, which was followed by Kraliçenin Pireleri, Ve Sen Kuş Olur Gidersin, Hayal Meyal, Bir Adam Girdi Şehre Koşarak, Şanzelize Düğün Salonu, Beni Onlara Verme and Düşerken.

Chaired by Tarik Tufan, the jury members to judge the National Feature Film Competition titles include Ramin Matin; director of films “Canavarlar Sofrası”, “Kıyıdakiler”, “Kusursuzlar” - world-premiered at Busan Film Festival - and “Son Çıkış” - world-premiered at Tokyo Film Festival -; Taner Tokgöz, cinematographer of films including “Devir”, “Balık” and “Rüya” directed by Derviş Zaim, “Aşık” by Bilal Babaoğlu, and “Posta Kutusu” by Barış Kırımşelioğlu; İpek Türktan Kaynak, who starred in films “Kusursuzlar”, “Son Çıkış”, “Görülmüştür” alongside Vuslat Saraçoğlu’s “Borç”, with which she won Best Actress Award at 6th Bosphorus Film Festival; and Ecem Uzun; who started her acting career at stage plays and won Best Actress Award both at the national and international categories of Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival with Yeşim Ustaoğlu’s “Tereddüt” alongside with Best Actress Award at 4th Bosphorus Film Festival with her performance in “Koca Dünya” directed by Reha Erdem.  

7 Awards will be Granted at the National Feature Film Competition

To be presided by Tarik Tufan, this year’s National Feature Film Competition jury will provide awards worth 180,000 TL in total in 7 categories; “Best Director”, “Best Actress, “Best Actor”, “Best Screenwriting”, “Best Cinematography” and “Best Editing” alongside with “Best National Feature Film Award” worth 100,000 TL.  

8th Bosphorus Film Festival will be organized from 23-30 October in Istanbul by Bosphorus Culture & Art Association.
