The National Jury President of Bosphorus Film Festival has been unveiled

The National Feature Competition of the 7th edition of Bosphorus Film Festival - to be held from October 18-25 - will be presided by the scriptwriter and director Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun.

Organized with the contribution of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema, and with the support of TRT as the Institutional Partner, Anadolu Agency as the Global Communication Partner, 7th Bosphorus Film Festival has started to arouse excitement.

Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun; this year’s jury president of the eagerly-awaited national selection, had brought home various awards with the three shorts he had made in US. Upon his return, he made several documentaries. His debut feature “Uzak Ihtimal” - that he made in 2009 - won the Grand Prix at 38th Rotterdam Film Festival, where it premiered and brought Coşkun Best Director Award from Golden Boll Film Festival. After having its world-premiere at 61st San Sebastian Film Festival, his sophomore feature “Yozgat Blues” won Best Film Award from 20th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and Best Balkan Film Award from 18th Sofia Film Festival.

With “Anons” he made in 2018, Coşkun won Jury Special Prize from the Horizons (Orizzonti) section of Venice Film Festival and Best Director Award from 6th Bosphorus Film Festival.

The director’s third feature “Anons” vied at and was granted Jury Special Prize by the Horizons (Orizzonti) section of Venice Film Festival, where it premiered. To date, “Anons” has won over fifteen awards at national and international festivals.

Festival Venues

Organized by International Bosphorus Cinema Association and Istanbul Media Academy, 7th Bosphorus International Film Festival will run this year from October 18-25, 2019 in Istanbul and the screenings will take place in Atlas, Beyoglu and Kadikoy movie theatres.
